Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Chula Vista

I had the opportunity to stay at the Residence Inn San Diego Chula Vista for an extended period on two separate occasions—first in 2021 and most recently in 2024. Each time, I stayed for about two months, and I was consistently impressed with the level of service and accommodation provided by the staff. They honored my room location request, making the experience feel personalized and comfortable. The hotel itself is located in a beautiful area with convenient access to nearby amenities, which added to the appeal. However, it’s worth noting that the Army National Guard has occupied the hotel extensively. Their presence includes leased vehicles around the property, shipping containers out back, and a headquarters set up in the conference room. At times, it can feel more like an Army barracks than a hotel, especially for those familiar with military environments. That said, I understand they have a mission to carry out, and the service members I encountered seemed professional and well-adjusted. Overall, if you’re looking for a comfortable and well-situated stay, the Residence Inn San Diego Chula Vista is a solid choice. Just be aware of the military presence, which has been ongoing since at least 2021.

Great hotel! Immediately on arrival it was clean and smelled fresh. Plenty of space and chairs with tvs in the lounge/dining room. Breakfast was typical; coffee, waffles, bagels, eggs, sausage, biscuits + gravy, yogurt, cereal, and fresh fruit. The rooms were spacious, clean, lots of natural light, and a comfortable bed. Shower was a little outdated. All of the dishes were clean and ready to use. Full size refrigerator, which was a plus. Pool was heated and a nice size hot tub. Basketball courts were always busy, and they offered basketballs to borrow. Very close (10 min walk) to shops, restaurants, and movie theater. Would highly recommend!

We were here for an event at the Easton center and this was a super convenient location - close to the freeway and many food options. Free parking and breakfast and I found the breakfast pretty tasty (waffles and hot food!). The rooms all had full kitchens and were really big. My only reason this was a 4 instead of a 5 was that I found our shower had terribly low water pressure and the first night we had a lot of room noise (freeway and neighbors). Note the second night, we all slept like a log and didn't hear anything so it could have just been that first night. If the water pressure was fixed, this would be the perfect place!

I think this Marriott is wonderful, with plenty of nearby businesses and restaurants. The location is very attractive to me—a little upscale in quality. Like many Marriott properties, this one offers complimentary breakfast from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The selection includes bacon, chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, juice, coffee, pastries, toast, make-your-own waffles, and all the usual accompaniments. The property features an outdoor jacuzzi and pool. I’ve never had any issues during my stays here. It’s conveniently located near my brother’s house, which makes it a perfect option when I prefer not to stay with him.

This place is amazing, very clean, free breakfast, the rooms very big, but the best part is the people at front desk welcomes you amazing, everyone is very nice and really take care of you, plus the manager she is super sweet. I don't take elevators because I'm claustrophobic and they always put me in the first floor with a smile. I recommend this hotel 100 percent.

I had a 2-month stay here and this hotel was fabulous. The front desk staff were so accommodating. So friendly and so helpful. They really made everything wonderful! I didn't usually partake in breakfast but the friends I was with raved non-stop about how good it was. The room was very spacious with almost a full kitchen. All it lacked was an oven. There was a full size fridge, an induction cooktop, a dishwasher, and a full sink. I believe with disposal. There was ample room for storage. It felt almost like an apartment and a home away from home. My room overlooked the highway so it was a bit noisy and I was woken up by the forklift guy from Walmart but that's just the nature of the beast of highway hotel. Other people did not have that issue. That's just the room that I was in. The beds were very comfortable and I really appreciated the extra drawers beyond the closet for clothing. The bathroom had ample space. Though I don't understand what is the deal with the half glass showers? It's all the rage in Europe and I hated it there too. Water always gets outside. Maybe it's the new thing? In any case, I spent two holidays here and had an incredibly pleasant stay. I was able to keep my bike here and ride from the hotel to the neighborhoods around. If you have a bike it is extremely accessible to anywhere. I rode downtown. I rode everywhere with zero issue. And what's fabulous is you can walk to the outlet mall. There's a Barnes& Noble and a cheesecake factory and a bath& Body works, etc. It's all right there plus a grocery store and then you can cook in your room and feel right at home. Probably the only issue I had was with the elevators. There was almost always one of them having an issue but this is going on about 8 months ago so it's probably been fixed by now. None of that should deter you from staying here. Parking is free and it's a warm, comfortable homey place to stay. I highly recommend this hotel! If I never back in Chula Vista I will stay here!!
